Latest News - President's Message (posted 7/23/08)

Dear Members,

Well, we’re halfway through the year.  I hope each of you had an opportunity to attend at least a portion of the Regional Meetings held right here in Austin in June.  We also had an excellent turnout for the Appraisal Institute/IRWA Joint Luncheon July 15^th.  The Chapter has made great strides this year.  The Board is working on the schedule for next years classes and we have received input from our members.  We will do everything we can to put on the quality education you ask for.  Attendance has increased at our courses this year and on another positive note, the Chapter is once again doing well financially.

Our next meeting will be Thursday September 25^th  at Falconhead Golf Club.  The Past Presidents of our chapter are organizing a golf tournament benefiting the Austin Appraisal Institute Scholarship Fund.  The tournament will be held at Falconhead Golf Club with a shotgun start at 1:00 PM.  Registration will begin at 11:30.  A registration form can be found on this website.  We will hold the chapter meeting after the tournament starting at 6:00 PM with a 2 hour USPAP Update presented by Paul Hornsby (should be interesting after a day of golf and beverages).   Cost to enter the tournament is $75.00 which includes the dinner.  Price of attending the dinner only is $15.00.  This is a really fun course to play and was in excellent shape in June when I played it.  Non-members are welcome to play in the tournament so everyone come out and join in on the fun.  I did a quick check and I’m pretty sure we are the only Appraisal Institute chapter in Texas that is holding a golf tournament so let’s have a big turnout and make this an annual event.

Once again, I invite and challenge each of you to remain active in the Appraisal Institute.  We will be voting in a new Board member at the September meeting.  If you are interested in serving on the Board please contact Deloris Kraft-Longoria at dkraftlongoria@satx.rr.com  You can also contact any of the officers about serving.  If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to give myself, or one of the other officers a call.
